Why this Blog?

Because we have the great responsibility and privilege of teaching our children and we need to do the BEST we can!

I have LOVED the new emphasis on a home-based, church-supported curriculum in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  Before this change, family night lessons were kind of rare – maybe about once a month.  But with the guidance from the new Come Follow Me manuals and the invitation to study as husband and wife, I have found inspiration, ideas and excitement for teaching the gospel flooding my mind.

I have three kids aged five, four and two.  Due to the young ages, our lessons are very short and always include an activity to try and help them remember the most important points.  We usually do 2 maybe even 3 small gospel discussions/lessons throughout the week.  Some come from the Family Home Evening section of the Come Follow Memanuals and some from the Friend.

We have enjoyed some great lessons already this year and I wanted to document and organize them so that I might repeat them in later months or years.  I also want to make this content available to ANY who might need a quick lesson idea or some fresh ideas to brighten up their family lessons.

“Family home evening is not a lecture from Mom and Dad. It is our family time to share simple spiritual concepts and experiences, to help our children learn to care and share, have fun together, bear testimony together, and grow and progress together. As we hold family home evening every week, our love for one another will grow stronger and we will suffer less.” -Robert D Hales; October 2016 General Conference.
